Hi! I’m Edgardo Cruz (he/him), a lighting designer currently based in Austin, TX. I’m drawn to lighting because of its ability to shape storytelling and the subtle impact on the audience. I love working on musicals for their rhythm and creative energy, but I also enjoy the challenge of building realistic worlds in plays. My style leans toward bold colors, strong shadows, and defined shapes. Some of my favorite projects include Lord of the Flies, where I had a great collaborative experience across departments, and Anastasia, my first musical design project. I’m familiar with ETC Eos and Capture, having worked with ETC Ion, Express, and Nomad. I am currently learning Vectorworks and SketchUp. I'm currently attending The University of Texas at Austin this fall, majoring in Theatre and Dance with an emphasis on Design and Technology.
